Separately collected metallic packages belong to the category of small metal items,  whereas larger metal objects belong to the scrap metal category.

Small Metal Collections MAY CONTAIN:

  • tins and beverage cans
  • aluminium cooking moulds and foils
  • metal lids and caps
  • metal cups for tea-light candles
  • empty and dry paint tins
  • empty aerosol bottles (which do not fizz or spill)

Rinse out the packages which contain food products to remove all the debris. The diameter of the opening for the containers at the regional collection points is 15 cm.

Scrap Metal Collections MAY CONTAIN:

  • bicycles
  • mirrors and gutters
  • metal parts of furniture
  • metal tubes and cables
  • wood-heated sauna stoves
  • metallic machines and devices (fuels and oils must be removed)
  • clean and open barrels

Scrap Metal Collections MAY NOT CONTAIN:

  • hazardous wastes, such as batteries or paint tins which contain some paint
  • electric and electoronic junk, such as washing machines, electric stoves, refrigeration devices, TV-sets and computer hardware.

Scrap metal may be delivered to Sortti stations.

What Happens to the Metal

Recyclable metal items are used as a raw material for the production of new metal products.
